Real Engineering. Real Impact.
From automated vehicle fleets to parcel hubs processing up to 1 million items per day, this isn’t engineering in theory — it’s engineering that keeps the country connected.
Here, you won’t just maintain systems.
You’ll design them, build them, improve them, and see the impact first-hand.
This is engineering at scale - shaping the future of delivery.

Delivering at this scale means solving challenges you won't find anywhere else - from handling unpredictable parcel types to designing systems build specifically for our operation.
That's why we don't just buy solutions. We design, deliver, and maintain them in-house. Because at Royal Mail, real engineering isn't about fitting into limitations - it's about solving problems completely.

Typical roles
We’re looking for curious, data-driven thinkers to take on everything from day-to-day engineering challenges to large-scale, complex projects. You’ll thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where momentum matters and a can-do mindset goes a long way.
From improving live operations to driving innovation and developing new technologies, our engineers turn ideas into real-world solutions — delivered on time and at scale.
This is engineering that keeps Royal Mail moving forward.
As an Automation Maintenance Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in keeping our mail centres and parcel hubs running smoothly.
You’ll carry out preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance across a wide range of automation systems, while identifying root causes of issues, improving performance, and driving continuous improvement.
Working both independently and as part of a team, you’ll also contribute to projects that enhance and optimise our systems.
You’ll need to be a multi-skilled engineer with an ONC in Electrical Engineering or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent).
If you’re a hands-on problem solver with experience maintaining automation equipment — ideally with PLC knowledge — this is your chance to help engineer the future of Royal Mail.
You’ll lead on maintenance strategy, support training and development, and drive continuous improvement across your team. You’ll also work closely with senior stakeholders, helping to shape how our engineering function evolves.
With a strong background in automation engineering, you’ll develop your team, foster collaboration, and create an environment where innovation can thrive.
This is a role where you can make a real impact while growing as a leader.
You’ll lead projects that improve automation reliability, develop innovative solutions, and enhance our in-house manufacturing capabilities — all while supporting our Net Zero ambitions.
With strong technical expertise, CAD/CAM experience, and a background in automated environments, you’ll design systems that deliver real impact at scale.
As a PLC Programmer, you’ll design and develop control systems, manage full project lifecycles, and optimise systems across one of the UK’s largest logistics networks.
With experience in Siemens S7 or Codesys, and strong electrical knowledge, you’ll play a key role in driving performance, reliability, and innovation.
You’ll manage suppliers, oversee technical contracts, and deliver automation-led initiatives from concept through to completion.
With strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, you’ll drive projects that modernise our operations and deliver measurable impact.
This is your opportunity to shape the future of engineering at Royal Mail.
